What was the first year for Rabbits in the US? I have a chance to buy a very low mileage 1976 that has been in storage for 15 years very cheap. How rare are 1976's?

75 was the first year. All of the older ones are getting hard to find since they all rusted away. I think the '75 and '76 were unique also because they have a slightly different hood.

thanks for the info. How hard is it to swap a later engine like an 8v or an 16V out of an A2 into them?

75, if you want to do a swap get a rabbit thats injected, other wise you'll have to change out the fuel tank lines, pump etc. heres a pics of my 75 with oem paint
