I have beaten a type R with intake, from a rolling start... Im sure it would be different from a stop though. Maybe he forgot to downshift 2 gears to get into his powerband.....
You may win or hang through 1st and 2nd, but 3rd gear it's all Type R. They pull like mad in 3rd (so do GS-Rs). And that's a stock R v. a modded VR6. Take a Type R with some mods and you'll get smoked.

That happens alot. Most VTECs (with the exception of the Prelude) are the worst rolling start cars in the world becasue it takes too long to spin the engine up into the stratosphere where they start to make power. My modded GSR gets hurt pretty bad in traffic against VR6s, 1.8Ts, and basically anything with any torque whatsoever. But from a stop its an entirely different ballgame. Good kill though! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
I have 3 friends each one of them owns:
2000 Civic SIR 160hp DOHC VTEC
1997-98 Integra Type-R
1999 Integra GSR
I have had the chance to run against each one of them in my GTI (see sig)....All of which are HWy driving up in Northern Ontario (Straight Level Roads from which you can see ahead for many miles
)
Speed 100-180km/h
The Civic SiR.....destroyed him, I was pulling on him every time. He had no chance.
Integra GSR......I could easilly pull on him in 3rd and 4th gears up to 200km/h.....Managed to stay in front the whole time
Integra Type-R...Dead Even the whole way up to 200km/h, I could not shake him loose....my friend was very impressed with my stock GTI considering he had fulll catback, AEM intake, Mugen Header.....
So to Uncle Ben...I think you can take a STOCK ITR but it will be tough...good luck!
