got a wierd thing goin on and i dont know what's causing it.
all of a sudden, my jetta is acting up. it drove fine one day, then the next, it's having an issue.
when drive it, as soon as it hits 5k rpms, its sputters and has no more power, it wont' go past 5k rpms either, the whole car just shakes. and while driving it around, the speedometer doesn't work at all.
last week when i was driving it, still with the wierd issue, the speedo would flucuate alot, it'd be at zero untill i got to roughly 40 mph, then it would jump up and stay around 40 but it woudl be unsteady and move up and down like it's not sure. then i drove it today and the speedo wasnt' moving at all.
i think it happened to me before, and i think it's a vaccum line issue, but i have all new connections on my vacumm lines, well as of like 3/4 months ago, and all the plastic tubing still appears to be in good shape.--- but i also did replace my speedo cable and that plastic gear, becuase the original plastic gear from when i got the car was chewed up and wasnt' catching right. it's possible this one could have gotten chewed up as well, but would that cause this problem?
i'm wondering if its' something with the vacum line into the back of the speedo cluster, like maybe it just came off or something, or maybe it's the speedo cable plastic gear thing.
any idea's????????
thanx in advance,
Brian.
