Re: Whats the best transmission oil for a 97 manual? (A418t97)
I don't have experience with it in the Audi tranny but, I've been using BG Syncroshift II for 5 years now and it is by far the greatest synthetic transmission fluid I have ever used. It can take a transmission with failing 2nd and 3rd gear syncros and make it shift like new again. It is usually about $8-9 per quart. Even better than the tranny fluid is their Ultraguard rear diff. fluid. That stuff can take a serious beating. The best way to check to see if BG is safe in the Audi tranny is to call BG and check to see if it is fully compatible. I would hate to say yes it is and have a seal fall apart or a metal shim wear out prematurely. Better check with BG first.
