Re: Whats the difference between the audi 225 hp 1.8T and this years 180 hp 1.8T? (miked197474)
The six speed transmission that is in that car can withstand more torque too. It would take some mods to get there, but in order to run at that horsepower all the time you would want a bigger front mounted intercooler...I would think that with a new turbo back exhaust (downpipe to a 3" diameter exhaust), chip, and a turbo inlet pipe, would put you pretty close...Since you have a 2002 1.8t you already have a decent turbo (it's like a combo k03 - k04) so it should be able to get you close.

Ah heck I haven't typed this in a while
The 225 has different intake and exhaust manifolds, K04 Turbo (bigger than aftermarket K04's), stregnthened engine block, different pistons and wrist pins, different crank bearings, uprated rod hardware, dual intercoolers, larger MAF, coolant pump that pumps coolant to the turbo after ignition is off, and a few things I can't remember at this time

Since knowing how VAG does things does anybody know if it is possible to adapt the TT water pump to a AWD, AWW or AWP motor. Doesn't the Beetle have a similar water pump set up? If so the swap should be fairly simple. It could be a rather economical and more envirotmentally friendly turbo timer.
