What's the groups recommendation for brake pads / rotors

1058 Views 11 Replies 10 Participants Last post by  gqjeff
It's time for new rotors and pads on the Treg. Normally I run Hawk pads and Brembo rotors on my other cars.
Just looking for the groups recommendations on what you guys are running. I'm not looking for Caliper / rotor moddifictions....just "better than stock," pads and rotors with low brake dust.
I already know where I'll prob. buy them from (Parts4VWs.com)
Mostly the truck is a Daily Driver for my wife, but we do have a 23ft power boat that we tow.

I second this....... purchased from Geoff back in May. Went with pads and rotors for a full brake job front and rear.
No more squeaks and most of all literally NO brake dust with the AIMCO pads even after 2 or 3 weeks of no washes. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I would go with Alretta too. Read my signature link below if you need DIY help on the install.
Re: (Tahoe12)

Definitely less dust, but they still squeal a bit, although less.

Definetly go with Geoff at Alretta. I would stay away from Hawk ceramic. I have a set on the front, Geoff doesnt recomend, plus mine are dusty and squeal. Bought a set of Raybestos for the rear. My dad used to work for Raybestos in Manheim Pa. He did all the formulas for brake linings and clutch facings when they still had asbestos in them.

That's a bummer to hear; was about to order -- assumed they would fix my random low-speed squeaking. Its getting very annoying/embarrassing when lesser vehicles in the same situations aren't squeaking. How hard can it be to fix this?

Re: (ehd)

I went with the Hawk Ceramic just to reduce brake dust. No problems a year later but it's only been about 600 miles. They were bedded very carefuly. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

thanks for the link but the current price is not found in there. I called geoff over the phone and he quoted me over $700. I was about to buy it in a heartbeat if it was still the $260 like it said in the the first page of that thread, but that was over 2 years ago.

The first post was only for the front brakes and as you said it was from May 2006.

The latest price in that thread for all 4 wheels* was here: http://www.clubtouareg.com/for...nt=95
