I hit 270-280F REGULARLY durring track days at Lime Rock and Watkins
Glen in the summertime. Once in a while over 280F.
Just give the car time to cool down, i.e. keep driving it until temp
goes down. Don't run it up to 280 then shut it off immediately.
Change your oil more often if you run those temps. I use 15-50 mobil 1
all year. (I don't drive it in bad weather, gotta beater
)
Maintain the car...fresh coolant, fresh oil, fresh plugs, clean filter(s)...
and you'll have no REAL problems running that hot. I am installing
an oil cooler over the winter, I suggest you do the same if you are seeing
temps over 250F often.
MY Rule of thumb: Don't worry until you go over 300F. When you do hit 300
just back off a little.
