Whats the reason for this?

404 Views 6 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  fluid72
I was cleaning the interior the other day and I unbolted the front of the front seat to lean it back. When I went to lean it back and pulled the handle to disconnect the slider from the front mount I heard a click from the seat belt connector(With the orange botton). It looks like there is a switch connected to the front mount where the slider handle is, not to the handle itself but to the part that has the pin that holds the seat in place, what is the purpose of this? Thanks

I'm pretty sure that's the wiring harness for the seatbelt detector (for lack of a better description) - it's how your car knows if you have your seatbelt on or not.

I knew the sensor was in the seatbelt unit, but why is there a switch on the lever, why does the car need to know if your moving the seat foward or backwards. Even if the switch on the handle was to the seatbelt light why is it connected to the lever(seat adjuster). I'm not trying to be a P.I.T.A. just curious.

Good question. I want to know too. Anyone?

it is a sensor so that the shoulder belt will not lock up when you are sliding the seat forward (or backward).

If you are correct you have solved yet another great mystery of the Corrado. I have always wondered WTF that thing did but never gave it enough thought.
