In about two days I'll have my first VW; a 2000 Jetta GL. I scored a killer deal on it (59,000 miles, single female owner, no accidents for $6500) and I'm pretty excited to switch from the 1999 Cougar I turned in a month ago, and to take a break from my 2001 TL1000R I have been driving for the past month (yes, in the rain too).
Anyway, my plans for the car are common and simple, a set of wheels (still unsure) and probably a grille swap, nothing much more, because I'm poor. Anyway, I have no personal pictures yet, but feel free to check out the AutoTrader pictures: http://www.autotrader.com/fyc/...st=19
See ya 'round the forums...

Welcome

Nice car
and
Nice bike http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
The Jetta will be like driving a Maybach after you get off the TL, its all nice and comfy and quiet. Speedwise....... it will feel like you're dragging an anchor though.

Ha yeah, the bike has more horsepower than the car, literally. Thanks for all the "welcomes"...

hahaha. you came here announcing that your car is yoru "daily driver." but if you stay here long the vdub will soon become an obsession. you'll soon want to trade it up for a 1.8T or a VR and you'll want to drive your dub more than your bike and then the rest is history . . . .

welcome friend. Can't wait to see some pics. What wheels are you thinking of?

(oh yeah, and the 2.0L engine is bullet proof. slow as it may be, it will last you many many miles with good maintenance. One tip: 2.0L's usually are due for a timing belt change at around 60,000miles. It can save you some headaches down the road. Cheack out the Technical Forum under the 2.0 Liter Thread for DIY on doing the change. I was getting ready to change my own, but ended up trading the car in for somethign else. . . )

I don't really know of any specific ones yet, I'm pretty "uneducated" when it comes to wheels. I do know that I either want a dark grey colored wheel, or dark grey with a polished lip. (My car is silver). Other than that, I don't know where to even look... I tried TireRack but their cool little system doesn't really show many wheels with those color details.
Where would you recommend I look for wheels like that?

Welcome.

Did you also score the phone number of the "single female owner"?

Re: Whats up, new member saying "hi" (Seanele)

yeah, the wheels and tires thread inteh classifieds is a great place to find sweet deals on rims.
just be patient and have your money ready because when nice rims come a long it can get viscious. otherwise try http://www.tires.com or wheelmax.com (but those are mostly cheap, ricey wheels that are poor quality, but there are a few gems). otherwise jsut look up manufacturers websites, find the wheels you like, then look for dealers near you. you can sometimes score a deal on wheel and tire combos if you go to a shop and buyt he wheels in person rather than over the net.
