Toyotas are very popular in Pakistan (even made there) and as the Taliban had very close relations with Pakistan, they use Toyotas.
The Northern Alliances prefers UAZs, as they are delivered by Russia.

What's the big deal? The country might seem like BF...errr... Afghanistan to you, but there are people there and it's the 20th century. You have planes and cargo ships and sh!t like that now.
Toyotas rule practically everywhere east of Germany, south of Russia and west of California. Toyota landcruisers can last forever in almost any kind of situation, and if they ever break down, there are enough grease monkeys in countries like that to stock a freakin' jungle, almost one to a vehicle unlike some other places.
Remember, your relatives probably never even heard of Afghanistan, but the avarage Afghan probably has a cousin who lives down the street from you. It might seem like the end of the world to you, but to many of them, America is wee bit down the road thataway... Just keep going, you can't miss it...
