My little 1989 GTI 16v is getting average 31 MPG right now with 160,000 miles on it(450 miles per tank at 14.5 gallons), this is 1/2 city, 1/2 highway driving, daily. I am curious to see how this compares to other 16v owners. Thanks!

I get about 450-500km per tank (around 300 miles). 2L 16v on CIS-E with a dead o2 sensor

My Scirocco scores about 29 MPG with 276 cams. ported head, etc, etc and a .80 5th gear. How can so much fun still get good mileage? I drive it hard as required.

I get an occasional 32 mpg on 93 octane with an 8v tranny going around 80mph at around 80mph
around the city I get anywhere from 24-26 mpg depends on how Im driving...

hmmm... my mfa usually says ~22mpg. but the 4k revs high on the freeway so...

i get about 350 to a tank but that down here in texas running the air on max 70% of the time. the mfa usually says about 26 w/air 31 w/o

wait.. that may just be my broken MFA. When I commuted 30+ miles to work on the freeway every day I was getting around 400 miles to the tank, but now that I've moved into the city I'm lucky to get 250.

im averaging about 31 mpg. i do a lot of highway miles @ 75mph. my foots not light either.

I drive about 28 miles to work and average 260 on the tank.
But rev it to 6500+ in 1st,2nd, and 3rd all the time and drive between 65-105 everyday.

Damn I hate you guys. I get 22-25mpg in my 8v Rabbit running digi 1. I think its mostly due to the 4k tranny and 4500-5000rpm (75-85mph) stretches on the highway for a 10-20 hours a week.
