wheel offset

i have seen a couple of cars on some web sites and they have the wheels right out to the fenders. looks mean as hell. i was wonderring if anybody has seen some of this done and knows the wheel offset. http://forums.clubsi.com/ubb/Forum8/HTML/003102.html . if u go down to the jetta u will see what iam talkin about. its about half way down the page thanks in advance

The less offset you have, the closer to the centerline of the wheel the mounting surface will be. An offset of 0mm will have the mounting surface right at the wheels centerline. An offset of 35mm will have the mounting surface 35mm more towards the outside of the wheel, thus moving the outer lip of the wheel inboard, or deeper into the wheel well. Overall offset and fitment will change with wheel width.
Usually for a 7.5 or 8" wide wheel offsets of 15-20mm would push the wheel substantially out towards the fender lip. For larger than that, you can have more offset.
