Wheel question from a newbie

Hello all. This is my first post so hopefully everything goes well. I have the opportunity to purchase a set of OZ superleggras (17x8) with Dunlop SP9000 (225/45/17) on them. Wheels are 5x100 and are coming of of a MkIV. My questions are these:
1. Will the wheels fit on my MkIII with the SP9's or do I need to get diff. tires?
2. If I do need diff. tires what size/brands/type do you guys suggest?
3. This one might sound dumb but again I'm only a newbie. What does ttt, bump, lol stand for?
Your help is much appreciated and thanks to all who reply. Have a good weekend and drink a
or six.

Thought of one more question. Where can I get my hands on a Bentley manual, and the other one starts with an H I think?

the 225's are way to big for an mkIII
try a 215/40 or 205/40.

ttt means to the top it's bumping up an old thread by posting on it again when it gets pushed back a few pages....
it's frowned upon, but you'll be ok if you don't over use it.

Hello my friend and welcome! 225/40/17s are too much! The brand and model of the tires are good but the sizing is not good. You should use a smaller tire size: 215-40-17! You can do 205-40-17 but it will be stretched. 215-40-17 is ideal and your choice of wheels is on the mark. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
TTT <---Means To The Top. When you post a topic it brings that thread to the top of the list.
Bump <--Means the same thing...you're just bumping the topic to the top of the list.

LOL <---Stands for Laughing Out Loud.

As for tire recommendation: Dunlop, Toyo, Yokohama, Bridgestone & Pirelli. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
