when do you really flip the "nos" switch?

silly question...i've never watch the fast -n- furious so bare with me...during a race, at what time do you usually flip the switch...like immediately after shifting into fourth and your flip the switch and floor it? what about in second or third or even first gear? isnt there people doing sequential sprays like after each shift or something too?

hehe, I'm not so sure if I'd try to glean(sp?) any automotive knowledge whatsoever from that movie

Most kits are set up to spray at WOT (Wide-open throttle). You usually have to flip a switch to "arm" the system though.
I looked into the ZEX kit for my P5 but decided against it. At least until my warranty runs out.

FOR ME: (ZEX kit) 1st after 2800rpm, keep it on till im done racing/blew up. The zex kit is armed via switch and starts shooting when the TPS flows .5 volts or above (Full throttle) So as long as the system is armed and im on the gas, it's shooting.

bleh
Id rather have a button to control it...
The starlet will roast the tires at full throttle through 3rd gear already. (its not full throttle... its the 'burnout button'!)
adding a nitrous to shoot at full throttle or anything above 75% on that car would be pointless.
Id set it to shoot between 50% and 75%... (this is one of those cars that full throttle is your enemy below a certain speed)
I think Nitrous helps for BIG turbo cars...

And you'd blow your engine more than likely....
Most guys arm it with a button, and then it starts to spray off the WOT switch. Now you can setup a window switch, where it starts to spray at XX00 rpm and stops at XX00 rpm. This helps save the tranny and clutch as well because you aren't spraying during the shifts, and if you miss a gear, there's less chance of engine go boom.
Using a button? Thats just one more thing to try and remember doing while you're shifting and steering.
A lot of people I know spray right off the starting line. Other's will run thru 1st on motor and once they hit 2nd start the spray (hard to hookup the nitrous out of the hole if you aren't setup for it.) All depends on gears, converter, launch point, suspension, how much nitroius, tires, etc. Also, they have progressive controllers which slowly spray more and more nitrous as the rpms climb, and 2 and 3 stage setups.

first off, the only gears that you can "safely" use nitrous are 1-4. 5th gear is pushing your luck as that is the weakest gear on the tranny. It is really more for 2-4 on imports unless you are good at launching and get take offs without roasting them in 1st with nitrous. Most people say they juice soon as they hit second. That poop in the F&F where they are using the nitrous on the top end is moronic.
