When is the next generation Passat coming out? MKV is 2004-2005, but whens passat?

Passat will use B6 platform similar to A4 and A6. A4 just came out this year, A6 will be arrive in 05 and Passat should be around the same time. Passat and A6 both introduced in 98.

Keep in mind that the B5 Passat was introduced in Europe in 1996 as a 1997 model. It was on sale in Europe for 1 model year before going on sale in North America.
The MkIV went on sale in Europe in 1997 as 1998 models. Again, they were on sale in Europe for 1 model year before going on sale in North America.

Thanks for the reminder. I remember an article saying its more a "mix and match" for future VW platforms.

Audi is changing the direction of their platform in the A4, not only to upgrade, but also to differentiate from the Passat. So, I guess the Passat will be seeing its own new platform. Appearantly with an independant rear suspension (finally)

The Audi A6 will come out the same time than the new Golf: fall 2003.
Haven´t heard much of the new Passat though.
