Thank you for the photo. I am in for additional information. What type of engine, and what caused the oil pump to fail?

I'm sorry for your misfortune. :( How in the hell are the two parts of the rod still in the same zip code? I see the split and the only thing that makes sense to me rightnow is the remnants of one rod bolt hung together and somehow the rod cap somewhat realigned or the crank broke at that rod journal, leaving it somewhat intact.

Also, Kool-Aid Man is great, perhaps even worthy of McMike!

Ah, reminds me of my 84 Celica GTS.
I am one of the few people that managed to throw a rod (and push entire piston outside of block) on a Toyota 22RE.
It still ran and idled.

Another way to view this event is that the connecting rod conveniently presented itself through the side of the engine block. This reduces the need for expensive disassembly and diagnosis.

Not even sure this is the OP's pain. They've started two threads with nothing but a short description of a single photo.

Either they think this is r/justrolledintotheshop, or they are looking for advice on how to replicate the issue.
:D

I can get behind it!

JCustomMeltZ got some tasty toasty posts!
