I just bought new rear brake calipers and figured that while I am at it maybe I should replace the rear carriers as well.
The guide pins are a bit loose...they have a bit of play so that you can wiggle them back and forth. Some wiggle a bit more than others. Is this okay?
How can you tell when the carriers need to be replaced?

The carriers should not need replacing. Get a guide pin rebuild kit from a brake shop and do the replacement work yourself...

Yeah, thanks. I just found a rebuild kit on autosportvolkswagenparts.com. I think thats the ticket.
