Back in the VWpowered days there was some guy with a site down in Southern California that had metal shift linkages. I'm looking for something that my parents can give me for Christmas.
Do you guys know what that site is? Or who hosted it? Or even some other place where I might be able to get one? I think it was like dstracing.com but I've tried almost every version of that and can't seen to find it. Any help would be great. Oh, and you guys know any good places to get a shift boot? or should I just go the the local car parts store?
Thanks guys!

Re: where can I get a metal shift linkage? (A1Rocco)

good question. I don't know exactly how to explain it since I don't know what every part is called, but where the parts connect at the ball joints, the part that covers the ball is rubber on the stock linkage, and mine has sorta torn a little and it comes off when I throw too hard for 5th gear. Those rubber parts are metal in the "metal shift linkage." There's my complicated explanation.
Thanks for the tip Giovanni, I'll check there.

Ahh, the linkage with the ball sockets on them. Mine are plastic, probably delrin. I have play there too but I think new ones would last a long time since mine took ten or fifteen years to get loose. But I do have a few other points in the system that are really bad and I was thinking that heim joints or sealed bearings like from a MTB would be cool.

I have a set in my car. Trouble is, they're in the UK so you have to pay shipping. but they are very nice, the other dubbers at the autox in October were truly impressed, even without a short shift kit. Would do it again no questions.
