I broke the weld between my cat and the flange that holds it to the turbo, I attribute this to the 2 little tack welds that were used and excessive engine movement, it happened after I let off from about 5000rpm. front snub mounts are common, and i will get one, but how about the other engine mounts?

Re: where can I get stiffer motor mounts? 97 A4 1.8T Quattro (Kale)

I have broken that same exact flange three times. If you have an aftermarket exhaust, chances are the exhaust does not flex as well as the stock. All the bending and turning that the system does while driving is exerted on that flange, since that is where the engine connect with the exhaust system, that is what gives.
I had the flange welded and re-enforced, no problems since then. Oh, and all this happened even with the AWE DTS.
