Re: where did you install your EGT probe?? (MAX_POWER)

Autometer's instructions say 2" down from the turbo.
Many hear think that if it's not right in the manifold, it's useless.
I think the gauge maker and the armchair engineers on here are both right.
I have mine in the DP. I use it's readings and A/F readings off a wideband Lambda to learn more about the mix. Together. I don't fall back on just one. That's why I feel just fine about where the sensor is.

Hmmm......technical stuff that I would like to know more about.....

Jman- Just curious...if you had your exhaust manifold off for some reason, would you mount the probe there vs the downpipe?

did you get the correct reading

where exectly did you put it(on the DP)

egt is best coming right out of your block.
do a search for "queries about exhaust manifolds" by me made about a week ago.
if you put it in your exhaust(dp) the gasses have cooled down significantly

Guys, what'd I say?
I use it as a useful guide paired with a wideband a/f reader.
Yes, if I had the manifold off, I'd consider putting it there, but then I consider what tapping aluminum may bring me.
Now, the sensor is on the DP just downstream of the turbo.

My pops bracket races. He was telling me that it should be 1in away from the hottest cyclinder, or the #1 cyl. He said the further away you get the less accurate you reading will be. This is for a N/A engine though. Could be a little different for a turbo car, but i cannot see too much difference.

DING DING DING. You will not get a accurate reading past the turbo.
