Where do you guys buy your new parts?

I've bought stuff from the Parts Place in Michigan, but when I wanted some valve adjustment shims, they told me they now only sell them in a set of 40 for $50. I only need 8. Any places that people have had good experiences with? I'm going to need some bearings as well.

I've been using http://www.megaparts.com/ (supporting a local business)or http://www.rapidparts.com/ (used them for years, since my '83 Rabbit).
But, there seems to be a great bias on this site for a place that gives M&Ms with purchases.

Second that. Those guys know their stuff, and the prices are great.

If you look at the banners at the top of the forum pages these are trusted places that have paid to have their banners placed there.
But I've had good experiences with http://www.parts4vws.com (Potterman), PG Performance (www.pgperformance.com)
and heard good things about 1552 Design (www.1552design.com), New Dimensions (www.newdimensions.com).
Others will be able to tell you more as I'm new at this ...

For regular maintenance parts, I go to my local independent garage... The guy there used to work as a dealer tech and was the parts dept manager before opening his own shop... He knows his dubs, does good work and sells only OEM parts and gives good prices.
For my snycro specific parts, I have to resort to the dealer. But since I have made few expensive purchases this summer, the guy has given me some good discounts... So he ain't that bad after all...

Mike Potter can get any OEM part for you without the huge markup. He also used to work in the parts room of a VW dealership (Timmons in Long Beach) and knows his stuff. He likes to race Sciroccos, too

I'm using these guys next week to order a new timing belt for our Passat.
