i'm working on it. the shop that i am working with, was asked by GIAC to get ahold of my chip so they can use it for development purposes. it looks like GIAC will be moving forward and hopefully the chip will be available soon. since the 2002 model year is the first year with a tiptronic in the GTI and Jetta(as far as i know) neither GIAC nor the tuning shop know the exact physical location of the chip, so they will have to start looking around in my car if nobody on vortex knows where it is.

thanks we will look there... i know for passats the tiptronic chip is located inside the car on the passenger side near the dash. we looked there and it was not there on my gti.
anyone know for sure?

It is definitly located under the rain tray next to the ECU. I have pulled one before a few months back to do what you are now doing. At the time however we found a metal box inside the TCM itself that blocked the actual chip. This was then epoxied shut. We couuld not get a hold of garrett at the time so we did not want to tamper with it.

well, Dyno Spot Racing took out my tip chip today and socketed it, downloaded the software and sent it to GIAC. i'll let you all know when i hear back from them regarding the updated software. can't wait......
