What's a good place to buy authentic German plates other than from the collector guy who recently posted on the Vortex? I wanna get a Euro plate for the front of my Golf IV, thanks.

Re: Where to buy Euro plates (Deception)

Do you want the real german plate or just one that looks like the german plate?
I gather you're looking for the real thing which is going to be a lot harder to find. Rocky Mountain Motorworks will make you a custom look-alike plate for around $40.

Got a URL?
How "authentic" do their plates look? I might not mind having a custom plate made with wording of my choice!

www.motorworks.com
I have their catalog and they look like the real thing to me. They have random number and German Government seal or custom. You have the choice of oval or rectangular plate.

Re: Where to buy Euro plates (Deception)

From the motorworks site
Oval Plate, Auth.German,14"x8.5",Oval Ea US

part number: 938-356
Price: $ 19.95

And the rectangular German Plate, frame & mount kit kt US

part number: GA13 008
Price: $ 34.95
Create a European look for your car with a special plate from Motorworks. They're authentic reproductions of the German European Economic Community plate. These rectangular plates have random number assignments and the German Government seal.
I couldn't find the "custom" option on the site, but I know it exists. You'll probably have to call for that

Keep your eye on eBay or any of the plate swapping sites (http://www.pl8s.com).
Bought a pair for $25 shipped from a guy in Germany off eBay.
Real, authentic Wolfsburg city plates. Expired sticker and all...

Damn I just looked at Rocky Mountain's site and they only use FedEx shipping to Canada. It costs over 70 bucks to send that plate to my house.. I guess I'll have to find another source.

Re: Where to buy Euro plates (Driftin GTI)

I got mine from http://www.properautocare.com
Its $40 and comes with an extremely high quality frame. Doesn't take them long to make it for you either. I was impressed by their service too (called me the next day to verify my order).
