I don't know what transparent paint is either

seems like you could get a transparent look by not applying that much paint, but i don't think transparent paint exists.

Well, no one I know makes this paint. Oh, and it's translucent. This means that although it colors, light can go through. Transparent is basically clear. If you do fins someone who sells such a thing, let me know. What does work is if you have your own air comp. and a painters set for it, mix some clear laquer and black....it'll thin it enough. What are you painting anyway?

Most hobby stores do carry it though. It's pretty common.
If you say smoked black color, they might know what you are talking about.

yes you can get the 'transparent' paint. It does actually exist!
Mine is called "NiteShades" -- it's supposed to be used to tint windows. Tint-in-a-can, is another phrase for it.
I picked up mine at a car performance/parts/accessories store. worked like a charm! I sprayed my orange bumper lights with a couple of coats, and it looks pretty black...but the light still shines through it pretty good once they're turned on

Ask for testers 2949. Its actually "Model Masters" or some crap like that, but its made by testers. Make sure and follow the directions as far as temp and humidity. I painted mine on a kind of humid day, and if you look really close it looks weird.
The transparent black does NOT hold up though, make sure and clearcoat it.

Mine was called spray tint in smoke version. They also had red green and blue. Definitely follow with the clear coat.
