Both of these two have a few things in common (targa top, "plastic" body panels, two seats, fast, etc) but also have a lot of differences (engine size, weight, torque, etc).
With that said, they both are in the same ballpark as far as price is concerned...so which would you pick?
2005 C6 Coupe
6.0L LS2 V-8
400 HP @ 6000 RPM
400 lb-ft of torque @ 4400 RPM
Weight = 3267 lbs
Weight dist, f/r % = 52/48
0-60 = 4.3 seconds
1/4 mile = 12.7 @ 112.3
Braking 60-0 = 110 ft
600-ft slalom = 66.2 mph
300-ft skidpad = 0.95 g
EPA MPG City/Highway = 19/28
Base price = $44,250
Price as tested (Z51 package) = $47,000 (estimated)

2005 Lotus Elise
1.8L Toyota Inline-4
190 HP @ 7800 RPM
138 lb-ft of torque @ 6800 RPM
Weight = 1979 lbs
Weight dist, f/r % = 38/62
0-60 = 5.1 seconds
1/4 mile = 13.5 @ 102.9
Braking 60-0 = 114 ft
600-ft slalom = 73.2 mph
200-ft skidpad = 0.99 g
EPA MPG City/Highway = 23/27
Base price = $40.780
Price as tested (Touring package) = $42,130

**Performance numbers from MotorTrend**

For an everyday driver I gotta go with the Elise...yeah, it doesn't have a huge trunk or heated leather seats that tickle your ass, but it's small, nimble, and quick in every sense of the word, which are characteristics which I find most attractive.

The Elise is a cool car but for everyday driving I don't think so.
At least in my opinion.

Hrm. Even though I've ridden in a Doug Rippie-prepped LS6 (
) I gotta go with the Elise. I've lusted after that damn thing since I was vacationing in London Sept 2001 (including the 11th
) Let's hope the Lotus dealers don't continue to be ***** about them

The Z51 package is only about $1500 extra.
And the price as tested is about $47000 for the coupe and $52000 for the drop top.

Got the numbers from MotorTrend...think the $51,000 price as tested included other options like navigation...

I got the numbers from Car and Driver. The Sept 2004 issue I believe.

The Car and Driver MSRP numbers are more accurate (at least Motor Trend did happen to list the Z51 package price correctly though at $1500) http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

All Elises come with a standard soft top that fits into the trunk. If you left the hardtop at home, you can either fall back on the soft top or start driving really fast.
