I want to put in replacement bulbs that will give me that blueish look that's on all the new benz, bmw;s, and some lexi. Is it the cool blue by phillips? Are they legal in california?

those bulbs are made by many companies. not sure of the phillips' legality but please let me warn you that your lamps will not be as useful to you. The blue hue is done by tinting the bulb, thus reducing output. These bulbs also will not last as long as standard bulbs. If you are considering still doing this, I would upgrade to the E-code lamps first to improve lighting performance.

Don't worry, I'm not going too. I did some research, and the only REAL way is to get the new HID's with xenons. I might go with the silvania silverstars. I want to see what they look like first, to see if it's worth the $50!

Another trendy bulb, that one even moreso.
Its just a standard bulb with a silver coating on the outside so it looks cool....
it also will have a measurably lower light output but hey its your 50 bucks...
(fyi the 100w H2 bulbs in my rallye grille are 4 bucks each!)

Cool Blue is by Sylvania
BlueVision is by Phillips
Super Blue is by GE
Yes they all are DOT and SAE approved

I sport (illegal) APC and Matrix 100W bulbs.
The Matrix lights are completely white. Good stuff.
The APC H4 "super whites" are a nice soft blue when used as fogs, and a blinding white when on high beam. I mean really blinding.
