chip torque carve is similar to stock

they're all pretty comparable -- lots torque down low, very similar in shape to stock. All of 'em are fairly smooth, so this poll is going to be highly objective!

try http://www.18turbo.com and check out the dyno graphs section.

Yeah but those are old graphs of old software.

My bad, I assumed they updated.

thanks all
flanders
which do you have?
is there a way to get done here in Toronto?
thanks,

What is "driveable" to you? I mean, my old Autothority chip was nice and smooth, pretty fast. On the other hand, my GIAC is REALLY fast, not quite as "smooth", but definitely better if you want power.
Re: which chip is best drivable? (hsaleem)

Getting a 3"DP will smooth things out further. See my block 120 dyno in my lame page link in sig. You'll see that after the 3"DP my torque was much smoother.

I've been chipped for about 400 miles, and I love my APR chip. I enjoy it most on a pull from about 75 to 100mph

I've been in a Dub with a GIAC and my car itself is APR'd. The GIAC you can feel just pushes power out, while the APR is a little smoother with it's delivery. If I could do it all over again it would probably be the GIAC that I'd go with.

hsaleem -- i actually don't have a chip
But some of the ottawa boys have Upsolute, and it's amazingly smooth. Gobs of power too! A coworker had APR, and it was also pretty impressive. I'm going to be getting UPsoluted in the springtime, mostly because of the amazing customer service and I can get it installed locally.
check out http://www.generationiv.com for Toronto stuff. Good luck! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Re: which chip is best drivable? (hsaleem)

The answer depends on how you like to drive. For me the GIAC is drivable because I drive like I'm trying to outrun a tornado.
Also, I really doubt most people here have driven all of these chips. I own two which is rare in itself, and had driven an older APR program. I would say see if you can hop a ride in some chipped cars and see what you like.
Re: which chip is best drivable? (dbrowne1)

i have an APR stage 1 chip that was instaelled at waterfest and i cant complain at a;; about it
it works great
Re: which chip is best drivable? (TheFNMan)

i'm running an up aww chip with stock dv. its great, smooth and strong. second gear is insane and 4th around 3000rpm, highway passing speed, is great. when friends ride in my car they are really impressed with the acceleration. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif
my up aww is very driveable.

Well I've been thinking about getting the APR chip and I have about 37000 miles...would it damage the engine if I get a chip and what's the largest amount of mile you can have when installing a chip for the first time?
Re: which chip is best drivable? (jiggyjames79)

I have exp. with both APR and AMS. I have to say, I like both, but APR makes more power. Although, for shear smoothness, I'd say AMS. AMS also gets signifacantly better fuel economy. It's a toss up, but I'd rather have APR; and I'll just try to keep my foot out of it(it get's awful heavy on that software!

Re: which chip is best drivable? (BMGBeetle)

The problem here is that very few have driven more than one chip. What are they comparing it to?

jim
comparing the stock
cheers,
Re: which chip is best drivable? (hsaleem)

Having owned both Upsolute and APR i can say that both of them are very smooth. Power delivery is smooth and linear. No boost spikes, no jerky throttle. Acceration & throttle responce are very much improved. It feels very much like a stock car, just quite abit faster with impressive acceleration. If you are looking for multiple programs (ie. stock, 93 oct., race) then i would go APR. If you just want to chip it and only have the one program I would go Upsolute. Both offer excellent customer service and are good to deal with. Any ?'s e-mail me.

I don't know if anyone saw my reply to this Post Topic but I'm concern about having almost 40,000 miles on the car and thinking about chipping it for the first time. Would this be okay?
