I have owned a 2011 Tiguan and now a 2017. I had some haldex maintenance kit left over from the 2011 tig and brought it to a shop to complete the work. (i know, it's super easy as I recall, but i just don't have the time).

The shop called back and said the filter is not compatible and that my haldex doesn't need a filter change. Did the haldex change for the 2017 year? If i can recall, my 2011 was a gen 4 haldex i believe. Are the 2017 tigs a gen 5 haldex? If so, anyone know if the gen 5 has a filter or not?

2011: Gen 4
2017: Gen 5

The Gen 5, you only clean the strainer on the pump. But you should get the $50 servicing kit, which is new O-rings and bolts

thank you!

I should add, my 2017 is the same body style as the mk1 tiguans with the facelift. Shops often think my 2017 is the MQB tiguan, but it is not.

Just under 30k miles.

The old fluid and the filter was super clean. I'll plan on doing this ever 30k miles and hopefully it remains this clean.
