Re: Which Intake would you get? (user name unknown)

my brother has the aem for his vr6....he hasn't installed it yet but from what i've seen from handling it, it's very well built. i would think the aem has the advantage over the cool flow as it removes the induction of air away from the hot engine air down to the bumper level where the air is cooler.

okay, now from reading ROCKRLR's posts about the Viper, you need the 4 bar upgrade to increase the amount of fuel passing through the injectors? This is because the Viper allows a higher volume of air into the combustion process?

oh, and if the above is true, would that provide more tangible evidence that the Viper is actually affecting engine performance?

Re: Which Intake would you get? (Black MK4 Gti)

stay with stock. doing intake in most cases increases throttle response, not power. someone made a great post last summer/fall with dynos from different intake systems on the same car. i'd try and find it but i am very, very lazy.

Check out the write up I did on mine in my site. You can also go to a link on independent testing that was done on the Cool Flo from there, they did intake temp tests on a Mk. III VR6.

the post i referred to also spells out differences of intakes at different driving speeds. it was basically saying that it was hard to beat stock in raw power at ALL speeds. i am inclined to say that your money could be better spent on other mods.
i am, however, basing this only on one single post comparing intakes.
