Like the topic said. I don't have any part ready but just want to estimate what I should expect if I order some springs and shocks later. I already got a quote from emotiongarage and tomassporttunning. Where else will you suggest?

Disconnect the passenger side drive shaft at the tranny to allow the passenger side suspension to drop enough to lift the strut out. Otherwise the drive shaft hits the subframe.

how hard can it be to do it urself? any person can do it, it doesnt take a genius. imagine spending a few hundred on someone else installing it.. cant u just take the same amount of time it took to make u that money and figure out how to do it? plus u know just that much more about ur car..

You don't need to disconect anything except the swaybar to have enough room, did it on my wifes mk4 Jetta just 2 weeks ago, took 2 hours. Never did one before but I didn't think it was hard. Of course I have a lift and good tools at my disposal so YMMV.
For the fronts leave the strut bearing attached while you get the bottom out, when the lower A arm is free it will droop plenty, undo the strut bearing and slide it out.

Do it at Pinepig's. Bring enough beer, good beer, and pizza for about 10 of us. None of us will actually help you, but we'll have plenty of comments and wise cracks while you do the install. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I've seen it done wrong more times than you'd think.
The places mentioned are good though.
I'll throw our hat into the ring too...
Bugformance of San Jose (there's one in sunnyvale too, but they don't deal with watercooled)
22 yrs of VW service experience.
