Looking into getting a cam and chip soon... but there would be atleast a month or two inbetween purchases... so my question is, which should i buy first??
i figured i should buy the cam first, that way i can buy the chip already programmed for the cam...
any other suggest/comments?? i'm gonna go with the TT 266 cam, that way i don't have to do any headwork... and either a GIAC or TT reprogammable chip...

Chip.
Most chips have sufficient mapping to accomodate common intake, cam and exhaust changes. You can start to enjoy the benefits of the chip right away. It's quite well known how much of a difference just a chip can make.
Adding a cam to a stock chip would be limiting the potential of the cam, and the stock timing and fuel mapping would be quite conservative.

Having just come off of running a cam with a stock chip, it runs nice but there is a definite benefit to adding a chip. The best idea is to get both together, but I feel adding the cam with a cam gear before the chip (provided you already have intake and exhaust mods) would be better than just adding a chip.

i would ad the chip first that way when you get the cam you are not starving for it to go high than the 6300 rev limiter because you know you will want too. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Well, I got quite used to shifting by 6000 rpm....plus I had my cam gear at +4 so I had a lot of low end torque.
My problem was the 123 mph speed limiter.
