Who has BOGE experience?

672 Views 5 Replies 5 Participants Last post by  SailexGti.hk
I currently have a H&Rsport w/ TurboGas setup on my 95 2.0 Jetta for about 5mos now. Several tuning sources and publications indicated that this was a good "entry level suspension upgrade, good enough for AutoX". When I purchased them from Shox.com, the guy said they were not recommended w/ H&R sports. I bought them anyways. So far, so good. The ride feels stock and firm. I did a pretty extensive search on other boards and found some people have had negative issues with them, especially with A3 VW's. I searched here and did not really find anything wrong with them before the purchase. Any insight will be greatly appreciated.
Thanks

Re: Who has BOGE experience? (DalM3)

The Boge TurboGas are fine for a while. I had a set and they started softening up on me after about a year of use. The front-end would start to dip more and more everytime I hit a medium-large dip or bump on the highway. The rears held up fine.
Mine were mated up with Autotech springs. I'm running H&R Cup Kit now and love 'em so far. At least you have a good spring, so if your struts/shocks begin to noticably fail on you, then you can just invest in some Bilstein Sports!!! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I used the Boge ProGas struts/shocks with Autotech Springs on my 1990 Jetta (And AutoTech anti-roll bars too). I had the set up for 2 years and loved every moment of it! I have no complaints about the BOGE products.

I'm currently running ND Stage 1 kit (Boge ProGas/Neuspeed Sport Springs) on my car and it's a perfect compromise for me as far as handling & ride. I've had it for 3+ yrs and no complaints. It lowers the car 1.5" from stock. My next suspension upgrade will be H&R coilovers

Re: Who has BOGE experience? (A3VR6)

Thanks for the info guys! Another reason why I asked was because nobody ever suggests BOGE around here as a suspension upgrade. ND was the first place that suggested BOGE, and that was with lower(B+G) springs than my H&R sports. The whole setup excluding labour was less than the cheapest price I've seen for just Bil/Koni shocks/struts. I have seen an occasional "Stay away from BOGE" post, but I think(IMHO) those were from drivers that were capable of blowing out Bil/Koni just as well.
