I have to do this soon, and I'm thinking its not a big deal, i've done on all my other cars, but I keep hearing about this silly phillips head set screw that is a pain in the ass to get off to get the rotors off..
any pointers?

Yeah, the screw usually rusts solid. We had to drill mine out to put the new rotors on. I think the rotors came with a new screw. (they were from PowerStop)

You need an impact screwdriver.
If you don't know what it is, it is a screwdriver that you can turn and lock. You then put the screwdriver into the screw and hit the end with a hammer. The force turns the screwdriver and screw. This is what most shops use.

Mine weren't a problem though, when I changed out the front rotors last year.
Yes, the new rotors should come with new screws.

Use the impact driver. The PO used the wrong screw in mine, so I actually sheared off the head on one side. If this happens, don't panic. You don't actually need the screw, it just holds the rotar in place for convenience.

Yeah, when I did my old GTis brakes, the passenger side didn't have a screw on it to begin with, and I didn't receive new ones with my Zimmerman rotors, so it stayed without a screw. didn't hurt anything though
