Re: who misses their old cars?.....what did you drive then.......and now? (lopes)

I've had a number of cars, but only two of them actually piss me off still when I think about them. I had a 70 corolla with a 2TC and dual 44's that I blew the motor in when I was 17 and my parents forced me to sell it before I could fix it, and then I had an cherry 83 Limited Edition RX7 that I drove into the side of a parked truck while driving like an idiot. The best part of that was my racing beat suspension arrived in the mail the next day and they wouldn't let me return it
I still get pissed everytime I think about that car, but I was lucky and slowed way down after that.
Do you miss your GTI? Isn't it for sale? You should buy it back. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

My old car was this Soft Violet Jetta. I loved it soooo much, but ended up selling it to my brother. Now it's nicer than ever!
Hey, at least it's still in my driveway. I gotta admit though...i'm loving my Passat!

I miss my last car still, it wasn't much but whatever. I wish I had a pic of it. It was a White 91 GTI 8v, 17x8" ADR M-Class's, Neuspeed race w/Tokico adjustables and VR6 Strut bearings. I also put 16v Recaro's F & R. P flow, Exhaust and Cam. Jetta front end and 16v Lip spoiler. I wanted to VR6 it but my parents wanted me to just get a GTI VR6, so I did

I miss both my old cars, but especially my first one. A 1985 Audi Coupe GT, Oceanic Blue. So unique...so loved. Got rear-ended at 45 mph by a Ford Escort wagon.

I also miss my second car, sometimes. My 86 Audi 4000 Quattro. My brother drives it now, but i don't get to see it very often, only when i go home.

I miss my old car too, It was a 1989 Jetta GLI 16V, black w/bisteins and eurosport springs,15' tsw blades, seibring exhaust, I sold it to a friend of mine so i at least get to see it all the time and he takes good care of it...But I now have a 1995 Jetta GLX VR6 Tornado red with tt exhaust, h&r sports, intake, and a giac on the way, so when i'm driving the new ride I don't miss the old one that much...

well, i miss my old 84 gti- had that WAY back in the day(12 years ago)- but now there is 1 in the garage and 1 in the driveway for me to play with
truth be told- i also miss my old camrao- not really the car, but the motor-'67 327 w/ 5,000 original miles and all the goodies cept a blower- THAT thing was super fast- still is actually, its a racecar on the local circuit and doing well from what i hear

I still miss my white A3 jetta VR6.
i sold it to get the mk4 gti I wrecked.
It had a mk4 headlights, kamei grill, avo coils, 16 deep dish borbets, that was in 99 before evryone started doing golf hood/lights on jettas, so it was unique.
It is now silver, and all ghetto'd out in Bean town somewhere.

My first car was a 1989 VW Cabriolet - and man, I loved that car!! I just couldn't keep up with the repair costs, so I practically gave it away on Ebay

Then I bought a 2000 Jetta (which I have to say - WHAT A DISAPPOINTMENT).. I exchanged it last year for my 1997 GTI.

I still have my Bug, then I had a Jeep Wrangler for a short while which was fun, then my Volvo 242 Turbo that was like a 6 year love affair. I still miss her, but the Jetta is a new chapter....

Sean

The Bug....

The Volvo...

This was my last car...I don't really miss it, it was fun to beat around in, but my sister drives it now, so i get to drive it when i go home and change her oil and stuff. No flames for driving a honda, my parents helped me with the lease on it, and they wouldn't let me get a dub. It was a decent first car, if slow, and i didn't do any mods on it, so no rice.
Edit: I had a dream 2 nights ago that I had that car with my jetta's VR6 in it, but it still had the honda 4speed auto, not my Jettas 02A, and the stock 185/65/14s were on it, so i was roasting them every where i went...was a bit of an upgrade from the 1.6L 106HP

My first Volvo.. 1982 Volvo 242. 5 speed manual.. Sunroof.

Dying of automotive leopracy (rust)

Still running around town though. I sold it with 285,000 miles on the clock.

I loved that car.. but am keeping my eye out for one of the following:

-242 turbo
-242 GT
-122 (of any kind)

which would easily remove any sadness I have towards not having a 2door, sunroofed car

The problem is finding rust free cars in Iowa. (well and that Volvo quit making rear wheel driven cars in 1993)

My 'most hated car' award goes to a 1983 Honda Accord that I got for 300 dollars.. it blew a timing belt a month later and I gave it away in exchange for having work done on my cars.. and the guy sold it for 750 bucks after putting a new belt on it

- - -

Most hated of my current 'fleet' goes to my 1986 Volvo 245.

I have been rejuvinating her.. but she refuses to [email protected] I gave her a new:
-suspension
-steering rack
-urethane bushings (and new trailing arm bushings)
-interior parts
-wiring harness (which I think is the current no-go problem)
-thermostat, water temp sensor
-air mass meter
-ecu
-Universal steering joint
- - -
I have thrown more parts and time at this car than it deserved..

Patiently awaiting spring when I can finally get some work done on it and sell it.

- - -

And my FAVORITE car in my fleet :

- - -

Runner up:

- -

Leading me to a few conclusions:

-I have too many crappy old cars
-Volvos kick butt if you can find rust free ones with less than 200k miles on them
-When it comes to performance, I'm not as lusty as a lot of you on here
