Phew. It took me like 3 weekends (mostly because of stupid issues, like spending 2 days looking for my power drill, etc..grr), but I finally got it all in there. It was my first install so hey, what can I say

I'm gonna try and get some pictures posted, but here's basically my setup:
My recently acquired PPI6600 (used) now powers 2 3 1/2" Polk in the dash ('97 GTI), 2 6 1/2" Polk's in my doors with a crossover and 1" tweets right above the 6's, 1 bridged 10" Polk MOMO. I'll tell ya, it sounds so sweet even though it's "only" a 10. Besides, from what I wanted (good clean sound picture), I don't think I'd need more than that 10".
I just had to get it out, it's been a fun and at times a very frustrating affair. Mostly frustrating because I had few tools and no real workspace, and it rains a heck of a lot in Seattle. Still needs some minor tuning, but as I said I am very satisfied

So you have 3.5" coaxes in the dash and seperate tweeters up front? That's probably not a good thing to have 2 sets of tweets in the front. But if you like it that's what matters.I will however will share with you what I'd do with what you have:
(1)Keep the 3.5 coax in the dash.
(2)Create a bandpass xover for the dash.Probably 700hz to 3khz,12db/oct
(3)Create a bandpass xover for the front door speakers.50hz to 700hz,12db/oct
(4)Use a high pass xover for the seperate tweeters 3khz,12db/oct

This way the mid range in the dash is more efficient and you will basically render the coax tweet useless. That will help clean up the imaging and Sq as far as trebble.
The 6.5 doors will also be more efficient with re producing mid/upper bass.

Alternatively he could clip the leads to the tweeters on the coax's. Its a litle more drastic but I've seen it done before . THe leads can alwasy be resoldered at a later date.

MadBug, I appreciate your input!
However, as I am new to this, I think I need some help/clarifications.
My PPI6600 amp has adjustable crossover functionality for the front and rear inputs, can I utilize this or would I have to purchase seperate crossovers? In the last case, do I have to ditch my Polk crossovers that came with the set (the set included 1" tweets and 6.5" mids). I can look up the ranges of the Polk crossover later if I can find it.
I agree with your last statement, since I have noticed that the sound up front sometimes could need more bass.
Thanks

Are you assuming that my 1" tweet is part of the 6.5"? They are seperate w/ a seperate crossover.
I'm probably making a fool of myself

Lexi is talking about the coaxially mounted tweeter on the 3.5".
There are various ways you can go about a set up that I'm talking about. If you want to continue using the ppi 4ch for the sub on the rear ch's,and don't want to buy a second amp, then you'll need a pair of passive 3-way crossovers for the front. At this point you will no longer need the Polk passive xovers,as those are 2-way.
One of the tricks to the 3-way passive,is finding one that has the frequencies you want.In my opinion, the 3-way that Canton supplies with their 3-way speaker systems would be perfect for you.Question is,will Canton sell you a pair of crossovers without buying speakers.Go to their web site, get the phone # and find out.If they'll do it,I highly suggest it.

MadBug; The PPI is 6 channel, 2 front, 2 rear, and 2 subs. The latter which I have bridged. I don't have the manual right now, so I can't give any info on each channel and what ranges the crossovers are (the onboard crossovers are variable).

Thanks!

Well, the more I think about it the easier it would be for you to use a passive 3-way xover. That way,you can have 3 speakers on the 2 front ch's.Otherwise if you wanted to use active crossovers you'd have to have 6 amp ch's.

With the passive xover set up,you'll still be able to make some use of your amps active xovers.Let me explain more about how things will work with the xovers:
Front amp ch's will go to the left/right 3-way xovers:
6.5"midbass speakers---------the amp will send a hi pass of let's say 50hz up,to the midbass speakers. Then, the 3-way will low pass the 6.5's at 700hz.The combination of the active hi pass and the passive low pass will create a bandpass xover. This means that the door midbass woofers will only play music from 50hz to 700hz.
3.5" midrange speakers-------The 3-way will send music from 700hz to 3.5Khz to the dash speakers.
1" seperate tweets-------------The 3-way will send music from 3.5Khz and up to the tweets.
Then of course you can still use the amps low pass xover for the sub.And you will have 2 ch's available still.

Voila.
Must be nice having such a great on-board processor.
