Its been done many times, but I never have done that specifically.. A friend of mine did it a loong time ago, and the biggest drawbacks were that it was pretty rich at low RPMs in boost since the G60 is supercharged and would generally be flowing more air at the low RPM, and the factory revlimit didnt allow the car to stretch its legs. It would still make power up to the revlimiter coming in and spoiling the fun. But now, they have custom chip tuners so its easy to get around those couple of things.
Pro= reliability. G chargers have a hard time lasting at stock boost levels, a turbo is comfortable at 18psi and more.
Con= the effort it takes to plumb all the stuff.
Pro=Adjustable boost
Con=Adjustable boost leading you to blow headgaskets because you didnt upgrade the injectors to flow for it
Pro=Can be extremely quiet yet still pound down serious numbers.
Con=On a counterflow head like the G60, getting to the turbo sucks. But you can swap an ABA head on it.
Theres a few.

its a good idea as well, the bottom ends are built to handle boost nicely, with good tuning you dont even need standalone to reach 300hp +. I dynoed only 245whp @18psi with digi1 and snstuning supplied me with a chip at that time that was basically to get bearings only. My second chip pulled much harder, much cleaner, and faster.
