It is on the way. She is getting it exactly how she wants it:
Atlantic Blue SE, cloth seats, bright alloy wheels, 6 speed manual.

Should have gone for the Tornado Red 40th

Just kidding lol!

Glad you were able to find an Atlantic Blue - it really is a nice colour in person 👍

We went to see one locally to make sure the color was good in person. It was a Stomp and Go Transmission.

Exactly. If we could not get the Blue, it was going to be rough going. She really did not like any of the other colors except for Tornado Red, and the 40th really isn't suitable for her. The chassis control is meaningless to her, along with the Summer only tires, 19" and Black wheels, and then there is no Sunroof. Even though you can change out the tires, that would have burned her up to have to buy snow tires right away. She works from home and drives so little in the winter that she can do ok on just having good M+S All Seasons. She MIGHT have somewhat unhappily taken a Silver SE. She is buying a GTI only because the Golf is no more in North America. VW really should offer a better selection of more vibrant colors for the GTI.

Yes, it looks odd now that I see it. I am on vacation, have not been sleeping much while on vacation, and I posted it early in the morning in a rush.

Thanks. She is German, has never had anything but a manual transmission. When she had to have a non manual rental one time for a day or two, she had no idea how to drive it.

Being German myself, I can literally hear that conversation in my head figuring looking at an automatic lol.
Congrats to the OP!! Atlantic Blue is a beautiful color.

:ROFLMAO: I knew my GF (now wife) was a keeper after the first time she drove my 5MT Corrado, and I had to ask her to keep it under 90mph... I've literally had both of the above conversations with my wife. The column mounted automatic gearshift in my dad's GMC Safari used to absolutely confuse my wife! In 2006, when she test drove a TDI DSG her response after the test drive was "Eh, I guess it will do". I convinced her to take the stick version for a test drive, and when we got back from test driving the TDI 5MT, she literally said "Manual, Definitely! I feel more connected to the car..."

My wife loves her present TDI 6MT and always has to stop and think what to actually do when she drives my e-Golf (a single speed gearbox with a shift lever like a DSG and a 12k redline). I always forget to put her 6MT into 6th, because 30+ years of VW 5MT's makes a habit.

Great story. VW should have followed the Corrado and Eos trail much further, if you ask me.
