I knew my GF (now wife) was a keeper after the first time she drove my 5MT Corrado, and I had to ask her to keep it under 90mph... I've literally had both of the above conversations with my wife. The column mounted automatic gearshift in my dad's GMC Safari used to absolutely confuse my wife! In 2006, when she test drove a TDI DSG her response after the test drive was "Eh, I guess it will do". I convinced her to take the stick version for a test drive, and when we got back from test driving the TDI 5MT, she literally said "Manual, Definitely! I feel more connected to the car..."Great story. VW should have followed the Corrado and Eos trail much further, if you ask me.Congrats to the OP!! Atlantic Blue is a beautiful color.
My wife loves her present TDI 6MT and always has to stop and think what to actually do when she drives my e-Golf (a single speed gearbox with a shift lever like a DSG and a 12k redline). I always forget to put her 6MT into 6th, because 30+ years of VW 5MT's makes a habit.
