That I am not exactly sure of...but it is the 'spindle' that is different...the number of 'teeth are different I think.
Anyone want to validate this just to make sure?
Thanks,

sure thing...i'll post 'em here too, just cause i am bored

the removal of your current Mk3 4 spoke wheel is really easy. here's how i did it:
1)remove negative cable off battery
2)locate the allen bolts on the back of the steering wheel(they are at about 3 and 9 o'clock positions on the back)
3)using a #5 allen wrench, loosen the bolts (even though they will be completely loose, they dont come off the wheel)
4)slowly lift out the airbag from the wheel
5)using a butterknife, wedge it between the yellow wire connection from the airbag
6)notice the little 'dot' at the top of the wheel...it is minute, but that dot is 'dead top center' for the steering wheel.
7)using a 24mm bolt, unscrew the bolt holding the wheel itself from the column
now for the installation of the Mk3.5 steering wheel:
1)locate the 'DTC' dot on the column
2)locate on the steering wheel an indention that looks like an arrow pointing down; line the dot and arrow up and slide wheel onto the column
3)tighten the 24mm bolt onto the steering wheel
4)clip the yellow airbag wire onto the back of the new airbag
5)push the airbag into the wheel - it will 'click' into place
that's it! it took me about 20 minutes total to remove the old one and install the new wheel. if you have any questions let me know.
happy dubbing-
