I'd like to replace my MK2 radio that has seen better days, with a new one from a MK3 that has CD changer controls, plus keep the OEM look. Can this be done? Is the Panasonic or Clarion a better unit. My old Jetta had the Panasonic unit and it seems to work great. Will it plug directlly in, or will I have to make a harness?
Or should I just break down and buy an aftermarker Head Unit?

Re: Will a MK3 radio work in a MK2? (FNG2MK2's)

i had a 99 mk3 radio in my mk2 at one point. its the one that looks like the mk4 radio but lighting is green. The plugs fit right in, but there are a few wires that need to be jumpered on the harness. I forgot which ones, but if u poke around back there and compare the wiring diagrams ON the radios, you can figure it out fairly eaisly. Since I had the stupid AKTIV system, it was a lil harder for me, but still do-able
