I will be replacing my stock Goodyear RS-A's relatively soon... was wondering if there any tires out there are a little lower in profile than my stock 225/45R17's. I was thinking like 225/40R17? However searching at Tire Rack, this is not an available size.
Any advice? I have the VW 17" longbeach wheels. I don't have the budget to go with aftermarket wheels.

Wouldn't this be a "stretch" fit? Not sure I want to go there.

205/40's would fit. how wide are those wheels cuz iim runnin 17x8 keskins with the 205/40 just a slight stretch

235/40R17 will fit ...available from Bridgestone in SO-3, RE750 24.5" overall height as compared to 25" stock (will lower vehicle .25")
235 will fit rims from 8 to 9.5 inch width with optimum at 8.5". BTW a 205/40R17 is 23.5" tall and fits rims 7 to 8 inches with 7.5 being optimum. lowers vehicle .75". Changes of 1" from stock overall or greater not reccomended.
A 215/45R17 is 24.8" virtually no difference.
