I just bought an 87 Cabby with no rear seat. I have young children and they really want to ride in it.
The driver seat is broken as well so I'm thinking of replacing the entire interior and upgrading to something a little different.

I have never tried it. From what others have said before, no it wont fit without a decent amount of fabrication. I know MK3 seats need to be cut and welded to make the sliders fit properly.
If you are looking for seats and have no luck up your way, come down here to MD. There a few cabbys in the junkyards with decent interiors.
