Can anyone suggest a windshield replacement shop in the Bellevue area and also how much it might cost to replace the windshield on a 98 GTI?

I would strongly suggest AGAINST using MS Glass, in fact my insurance company flat out told me they won't cover the work that MS does...they are known in the auto glass industry as being hacks.
I would recommend Seattle Auto Glass or Harmon, they do good work and you don't want to take any chances with your windshield on a Volkswagen...only Sekurit glass as well.
My boyfriend works in the auto glass industry, if you are looking for someone in the North End (Snohomish County), I can give you the name of someone that does very good work.

Hey Y, I hope you didn't try pouring hot water on your windshield to melt the ice! The rapid expansion /contraction of glass will cause it to shatter. Since a windshield has a plastic liner between two sheets, it will just crack!
