Maybe some wires got crossed there? (no pun intended) Sounds like you'll have to take it all back apart, or maybe the stalk got fried in the process.

 

time for a wiper delete

 

id like to know too mine aren't working besides on high speed. i have a feeling it has to do with the ignition switch, i know it sounds weird but my car wont start all the time but i can jump the starter so i looked up symptoms and i have read of symptoms like the wipers not working right... so more info please.

 

Check and see if your wiper relay came loose. One of mine had that same problem when
I first bought and it turned out the P.O. had it plugged in the wrong location. But since it did
work before the wreck, I'd guess it came loose due to the wreck.

Can't be the ignition switch. Do the wipers work in a car when the key's not turned? No.

It's the wiper relay. Depending on what year the car is, it could be the relay that says either 99, 19, or 196.

And anyone can test this. Take out the wiper relay and you'll get the same thing, the wipers will only work on high speed. It's either loose and will need to be plugged back in, or it's defective and needs to be replaced.

 

Yup. When I got my mk2 vr it only had a high wiper speed. I checked, no relay. Pop one in and all is good. :thumbup:

 

its the relay. i just realized what the two random relays in my door card were from.

i hate when previous owners do stupid things.

 

usually people dont do that for no reason, but maybe not. hopefully it wasnt cause it was blowin fuses or somethin. but it just sounds like the PO did it for no reason, hope it works out bro.

I had this issue but it was a front wiper issue, ended up being a fuse issue

If you use the 99 relay, you get the nifty programmable wiper function. I would highly recommend it.

The wiper relay position is number 8 on the picture below. (bottom row, second to the left)

Programmable (99) = you can program the intermittent wipers to wipe between 1.5 seconds and 22 seconds, depending on condition and how often YOU want it to wipe. I use mine more than the low setting, it's my favorite feature of the car
Non-programmable (19, 196) = it wipes every 6 seconds. Really annoying if it's a very light drizzle or a heavy drizzle
