Re: wipers - how do you get them in the UP position? (strider5)

Immediately after you turn the car off, hit the wiper stalk. They will go up and stay up. It's called "winter/service mode" in the manual.

What he said
Struggled with this myself. Here are the steps:
1- Shut the car off. If it's off, turn it on and then shut it off.
2- Pull down on the wiper stalk one single time (like when you want to do just one wipe.
That's it. The wipers should remain up. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

I used the feature in our ice storm on Wednesday, and it worked great. While they still were stuck to the windshield, they didn't get bound up with a lot of ice, and made it much easier to scrape the ice off.
Well done, VW!

Re: (ceostar)

the funny thing for me was my salesperson showed me how this works, he did it right and correctly.... wintermode for the wipers... I picked up the car in tucson ... so it was funny that the dealer knew anything about "winter" in the land of heat and sun...

Here in the land of heat and sun there are mountains aka flagstaff az. we average about 170 inches of snow every winter. http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Since cars with this feature first arrived I have been describing it to my customers as "winter/service mode" at delivery.
After our first snow/ice storm this year I had two customers call and thank me for showing them the feature. They both said it made life so easy the next morning.
It really made my day/week that they took the time to call and thank me for just doing my job.

This is great - I'll use it when I wash the car and want to dry that area out. The wipers hit the back of the hood when you try to lift them up in the down position.
Thank God I don't have to use them for the actual winter mode anymore.
