my highest trap so far is 98.5x, i wanna break into the 13's with my current setup and I want to try to do it without ripping the interior apart. I'll remove the spare but that is about it. Currently I have:
VGI, 268, HD springs, GIAC chip, K&N, autotech exaust. I was gonna try swappign the VGI for the stock manny just to see what happens.
I think the biggest problem I have to date is my 60'. If you look at my sig i ran a 14.44 w/a 2.23. In theory if you drop your 60 by 1/10 your et should drop by 2/10's correct? If I could run a 2.0 60 that should be a 13.99.
Do you think it;s possiable?

try useing slicks.. also what PSI are your running down the track with.. try letting some air out of the fronts.. that should help you hook-up better and improve your 60', but no i don't think you'll get into the 13's unsell you loose about 100lbs and run some slicks.. than you may get there.

Mark,i think i mentioned this to you before..i don't think unless u have like a 1.8 60ft, OR a car that weighs 2700lbs with driver 98.5 won't get you 13's....
As you saw 2 weeks ago with my 2.120 i went 14.052 @ 99.37. IF u make your car lighter it will take less mph to get lower e/t but the heavier the car the more power u need the more mph required..
My car weighs 2800-2825lbs with me and weight reduction.. your car has to weigh close to 2950lbs with your full interior and no weight reduction..
And i have many slips to prove that .1 in 60ft does no equal .2 in the big end for example 2 of my runs on sunday
2.209 60 14.160 @ 99.46 and 2.120 14.052 @ 99.37 .. .1 better 60ft .1 better in the big end.

Tim, your times are awesome. So what if i compromised my integrity and lost 100 or so lbs. And mayeb added a quaife. With lots of track time it should be possiable right. I mean if 95GLX listened to people telling him "no way will that car make it into the 12's" (just using him as an example, I don't know if anyone ever said that) and just never tried you would never know. I do apreciate the critisim and I know you are only trying to help

I agree with Tim. Unless you lose some weight you will have a tough time entering the 13's. But don't let that discourage you.
I have the same goal this upcoming season. I want to get into the 13's N/A. I have a couple more items to remove for weight savings, so I think I will be right around the 14.0 mark this year N/A!
With weight loss, N20 and slicks, I am shooting for the low 13's, and hopefully a 12.99!
So if you really want 13's, then it's diet time!

Good Luck! http://****************.com/smile/emthup.gif

Mark, Quaife isn't gonna lower your times persay it will just highly descrease your chance of breaking.. yes with the quaife u can throw slicks on and possibly pull that 1.8. but that something i was not able to do... in my 6 or 7 runs with slicks.
Your right... don't let someone get u down i have been trying to run 13's all motor for the past year and a half and finally gotten this close 14.052... but it's definately frustrating.. being oh so close but not being able to do it..
But if u don't feel like taking out weight the other cheat is get a 3.67 r&p and u should be 13.9 with out a doubt. I was gonna do it when i put my quaife and clutch in but didn't have the money for it...
As for Anthony (95glx) i know him personally and since he was goin 14.4's all the weigh down to now..he got to 13.4 with basic weight reduction like seats, light weight battery etc etc.. car weigh 2600lbs Then he said screw it i want 12's so he went ahead and did aluminum trunk, lexan windows stripped everything possible and got his car down to 2300lbs. along with bigger slicks which gave him more mph... and his 1.7 60fts he got his 12.7 @ 107 .. So basically what i am saying is u don't need more power just less weight.
But Mark if u continue to drag i definately recommend a diff just cause u don't wanna blow yours cause more then likely u gonna need to replace your tranny also cause it will put a whole in the case..
And also try running some 104 octane. since u still have a cat.. since it's unleaded.. were i run 112... honestly some days i don't feel a gain and other days i definately gain mph.. but it's worth a shot..
Also i dunno if u have your airbox or a filter but if u have the airbox.. ditch it and get a filter cause your losing power.. just look at Bill.
And with those 268 cams i recommend shifting a little later then what u said u were like around 6700 and then 6600-6700 then ride out 3rd.

Tim the slicks you ran were too small thats why it hurt you. I fyou were to run Dowds slicks I know you would run consistent 13s cause they are a tad taller and they will give you a mph or two.If he ran the right slick it will help but in order to do that he will need the quaiffe. You said it yourself when Dowd ran a taller slick he gained mph which is true for anyone.
Mark wit a quaiffe and the right slicks on some bogarts you can probably hit 13's without any weight reduction. You will just need time to practice.

I do plan on going to the track alot so I want the extra insurance of the diff.

Would you recomend a 3.67 as instead of a 3.933? I want to keep N/A with the exception of adding juice down the road a bit. But wouldn;t the 3.933 give me quicker acceleration with a lower top end then the 3.67?

I ran 104 unleaded last week at the track and didn't notice a difference, but I am sure it won't just anything. What about getting a test pipe?

I know you have the p-flow and everyone @ here knocks it because it supposedly sucks hot air. I just have a k&n with the stock air box drilled out. Before I got into the 14's I had just the k&n without the drilled out box so I belive it does make a difference.
The cams I still have to figure out, I think I am gonna get a dyno done and see what the power curve is. Last week I tried 7k then 6400 and then third till the end but couldn't do any better then 14.6 so I'll see if your method works.

Practice makes perfect.

quote:

If you could hit a 2.0 60ft you should be around 13.5-7 @98+ mph. My truck with a 2.0 60ft will do 13.8-9's and trap 97mph.

yeah but you have a SC in ther truck. HP makes a big diff.
I "might" be pushing 200 crank Hp in a 3000 lb car w/driver.

What are the 'right' slicks to run on our cars? I was looking at purchasing the M/T 22x8x15 slicks to go on my extra pair of 15" stock Corrado wheels. Are those not the right choice?

thats the slicks i ran and got slower car they are too small..u lose big end speed..
23 or 24.5 in slicks are ideal.
But if u get the 22x8 to give u a 1.8 60ft that makes up for the loss in the big end were i could pull 1.95 at best..
Cyclone = AWD thus i guarantee your 1/8 mile is MUCH lower then ours which is why u run those times..
Beleive me i went 2.03 60ft in december at 98.4 mph and only went 14.14 so fwd is diffrent from awd..
I have a test pipe i gain 1-2mph from it..
Filter.. i dunno hahaha..
R&P i like the 3.67.. personally
Shift points = practice.. when i first got my dsr 256 cams best i could go was 14.4-14.5 then got my shift points down and dropped to 14.1-14.2
