Actually, the city of Wolfsburg didnt exist before VW came there. Wolfsburg (wolf's castle) is the name of a mantion in the area called Fallersleben in Brunswick, Germany. Since there was no town there, the name of the nearby mantion was chosen for the new city to be risen there. So this badge is a tribute to the old castle, on which gronds the VW factory was founded.
