Re: Wolfsburg editions? (Phobia)

Wrong. People make this mistake ALL THE TIME. A "Wolfsburg Edition" is simply a trim package. It DOES NOT mean that the car was built in Germany. |

He's right - Wolfsburg Edition models have been around since the 1980s, and are JUST a trim package. Wolfsburg Editions still exist today in Jettas - the most recent being the 2001 and 2003 Jetta Wolfsburg Editions which, I can assure you, were not built in Germany.
Not a single A2 Golf made for the U.S. market was built in Germany; they were either built at the now defunct Pennsylvania plant or the Puebla, Mexico plant. So if you have a Wolfsburg Edition Golf, you can be CERTAIN that your car didn't roll off the production line in Germany.
Also, many A2s had a Wolfsburg badge where the Euro-spec side blinker should be. This square black badge does NOT mean your car is a Wolfsburg Edition. Wolfsburg Edition badges are round and say "Wolfsburg Edition" on them.
For a Jetta, your Wolfsburg Edition may have been built in Mexico, Germany, or the United States, for that matter.
But back to the topic - Phobia speaks the truth - it is JUST a trim/options package.
And might I add, along the lines of this, that there is no "Karmann Edition" Cabriolet either.
