just picked this up. my 8th VW (3rd passat, owned 2 b3's one td sedan and a vr swapped wagon)

so far i did most of the vag com tweaks. ordered a euro-switch and clear turns.

plans are exhaust, most likely 3" back from the factory resonators to some magnaflows.

air ride and some oem 18's, rear sway, intake and chip.

Yes and no. With a set of pry tools, the pieces covering the instrument cluster and over the center trays will pop out of their retaining clips. Just as with the center console trim pieces, just go slow and steady and try not to bend them too much.

The one over the glovebox can be just as easy or a PITA. It's held in by clips but some model years' also have a retaining screw. (I assume this was to keep the trim piece from popping out if the airbag deploys.) This seems to appear only in earlier production runs; my 2009 doesn't have it (though it does have the hole for the screw) and I've read about 2008s that didn't have it either. To check, grab a flashlight and open up the passenger side fuse panel. The screw mounting point will be somewhere in the middle of the trim piece.

If you don't have the screw, you're in business! If you do, the only way to reach it (unless you're Elastic Man) is to drop the glovebox. You can find more details on both of these procedures by searching around the forum.
