I have read through so my posts my brains is bleeding...

I have a 2012 gti w/ nav (xenon & led drls). I have oem vw led tail lights WITH REAR FOG, with adapters on a boat or plane from Germany right now. I have a euro switch installed, with the parking light trigger wire installed (from switch pin #3 to black cecm pin #19).

For the rear fog light to work, it is my understanding that I need to do the following:
* run trigger wire from switch pin #7 to black cecm pin# 17
* move wire from black cecm pin #28 to brown cecm pin #47
* move wire from brown cecm pin #47 to black cecm pin #28
* vcds coding under 09 central electronics, byte 18, change to either "04" or "21" (from what I've read, not sure exactly which one...)
This works for the Non-LED Rear Fog Light too. (If you don't have a tail light with a Non-LED Rear Fog Light, you can subsitute a red 7440 bulb for the clear 7440 bulb that is used for your driver's side reverse light)

I tried coding to "04", but the tail lights were too dim.
I then tried coding to "42 Hex". That worked for me, but I got the tail lights on whenever the DRLs are on. :(
(42 Hex = VW360 VW360 Ska XENON XE TFL_S_LED ROM 66 )

Then I tried coding Byte 18 to "40 Hex". That works perfectly!
(40 Hex = VW360 Halogen VW360 RoW ROM 64)

So, besides having a rear fog light, the "euro parking light" feature now works too (if your Instruments are set to something besides NAR).

For those worried about removing the wires from the CECMs... use the safety pin trick mentioned here --> http://www.golfmk6.com/forums/showthread.php?t=37553. It really works a lot better than sewing needles and is a lot cheaper than a terminal extraction tool that you'd only need for this job.

Glad to hear that this is working out for others.

Just be prepared to have people regularly stop you in parking lots to tell you "You have a backup light out."

My dealer told me that too.

Thanks for the helpful info! I did the rear fog light mod using existing OEM incandescent tail light housing with the addition of replacing clear 7440 bulb with red 7440 bulb.

- My setup is '13 Golf TDI Tech Package, which has front LED DRL/City Light w/ Bi-Xenon.
- Also added euro light switch, pin 3 and pin 7 attached to their respective terminals on the black CECM module (pin 17 and 19 - there's a whole another DIY on those).
- Swapped terminal 28 Black & 47 Brown (before coding, front passenger DRL doesn't work while rear driver reverse light lights up all the time. Throw in reverse gear, and front passenger DRL lights up along with rear passenger reverse light. Expected, as the wires are swapped). Also bulb out warning on MFA display.
- Did coding. Initially byte 18 was set to 02 RoW, but DRL cannot be enabled at all. Tried all the possible methods through byte 11, 14, 15, 24, 27 - none works. This setup works if you don't want DRL enabled anyway.
- Well I want DRL so I need to have it work. So went ahead with setting byte 18 to 40 as suggested here, non-Ska, since I only want to keep the front LED as DRL without using the side city light and rear lights. DRL works now as it was before.

Pretty neat!

Additional coding done was setting Instruments to RoW as well. When changing to RoW, you get one-side parking light via turn signal stalk, also almost no warning chimes for petty stuff (door open while engine running, seat-belt only dings twice instead of continuously if you go above 15mph unbuckled).

So I tried this on my 2013 Golf R.

Regarding the coding of Byte 18, the current version of VCDS doesn't let me choose 40Hex, sofar as I understand. VW360 RoW corresponds to 04, and there is no choice for 40, and one cannot type it in. It is a drop down menu only.

Also, my instruments were already changed to RoW, and when I tried to change them to NAR, it would not accept the coding.

Now I have the "check left tail light" error in the instrument panel and the following fault codes:

Oh yeah, whether I'm in NAR or RoW on Byte 18, the rear fog stays on all the time.

Any advice on what's going on here?

This old Noob thanks you in advance.
