...Build a special "performance" GTI model. Y'know, make it lighter, stiffer, 6-speed, maybe only have black, red, and silver available, Recaro seats. Hell, maybe even bring back the classic and call it the "Rabbit GTI".

Yeah, sounds a lot like the 25th anniversary GTI.. I'd love it if they made one in yellow and sold them here...
